The Germans and Ukrainian auxiliaries murdered the Jews at Babi Yar in 1941 (though killings did continue throughout the war). There is incontrovertible proof that no massacre took place at Babi Yar during the German occupation of Kiev; that the ravine was not used as a mass grave for Jews killed by the Germans. But it was a burial field between 1922-1935 for the victims of the Cheka/NKVD. You can read about this at CODOH. |

End of story, there is not enough evidence to establish the validity of this claim. More Soviet propaganda. Fictional people do not carry explosives except in books and movies.

Thank you for this invaluable material Jeff. At least this is not the 120 thousand claimed by the 'extraordinary commission". I think Babi yar deserves its own thread but that can be done later, I am sure. Thank you for the translation. (more than flipper bothers to do).
I will comment more later, but it seems from the reports the Germans viewed the alleged victims as partisans; were they fighting fire with fire? I am well aware of the iniquities and collateral damage of Einsatz D. War crimes perhaps but in the context understandable.

After the explosions in Kiev, the EG organised a mass shooting, as reported in OSR101 www.holocaustresearchproject.org/einsatz/situationreport101.html"Sonderkommando 4a in collaboration with Einsatzgruppe HQ and two Kommandos of police regiment South, executed 33,771 Jews in Kiev on September 29 and 30, 1941." The same report said; "In the period covered by the report, the towns of Nikolayev and Kherson in particular were freed of Jews." The role of the EG included ridding Ukraine of Jews, to make it Jew free. Clearly, Ukraine was not going to be filled with Jews from elsewhere, as part of a supposed resettlement policy. Instead, Ukraine was to be resettled with Germans, in particular, farmers, to farm the land, so that never again, after what had happened in 1918, Germany would run out of food. |

If the EG lied to Heydrich in OSR 101 and they did not execute "33,771 Jews in Kiev on September 29 and 30, 1941", what evidence is there, to prove what did in fact happen to those people?
