An interesting document showed up regarding an infiltration of the Extermination Camp Chelmno: holocaustcontroversies.blogspot.com/2022/08/the-infiltration-of-kulmhof-chelmno.htmlPatrick Montague brings it up in his book Cheลmno and the Holocaust: The History of Hitler's First Death Camp. Some background: During the Summer of 1942 a group of Gestapo members showed up to inspect the camp. The camp expected their arrival so it wasnโt a surprise when they showed up, even if it was early. The campโs deputy commander showed them around the camp and they left after possibly taking pictures and being shown around. A couple of hours later the actual commission arrived, surprising everyone. A search failed to locate this โcommissionโ and no one took responsibility for it. As it turns out there is a document noted that indicates a search was done. There is nothing else to indicate these men were captured or killed. OTOH there is nothing to indicate they ever provided any information to the Polish Underground. This seems to indicate that the men were probably killed but there is no confirmation either way.

Some camps such as Auschwitz had their own "Gestapo" office.
There could be a plethora of plausible scenarios such as trying to catch the SS guards hurting the inmates. Other police were also commonly mistaken for Gestapo such as the military police, security and criminal.
If you find anything else out let us know. Interesting thank you.

There is also the possibility that the infiltrators found no evidence of atrocities at Chelmno and didn't attempt to lard their inspection over with lurid tales of improbable murders.
