The Crown

I don’t think it was an “excellent” series at all. (And I say that as someone who didn’t watch a single episode, but was intrigued by how popular it was with ‘the masses’.)

In my opinion it was yet another example of humanity’s current obsession with — and acceptance of — quite obvious false misrepresentations and lies about history.

Another example would be all the fawning, distorting, biased, lying films about Churchill. The most recent one completely inventing a scene which preposterously depicted him as a man of the people, riding unaccompanied by staff or security on the London Underground in order to gauge public opinion to the war!!! 😮🤪

We live in a society that falsifies history for profit!
(TRUTH and historical accuracy doesn’t sell so well. 😕)

That series ‘the Crown’ is just one more example of us humans lying to ourselves about the past for entertainment or worse.

And most don’t notice they are being deliberately misinformed ...and when told aren’t interested, ...and/or become peeved.

Sure! But I think you have missed the point. Yes, the majority know that, BUT do you agree true the vast majority of people accept the dramatisations as mostly true. That works by most people not bothering to check what is false and what isn’t. That is how the film industry (and those who fund it/ control it) can calculatedly mould public perceptions for personal and political gain.
There’s historical truth and then there’s DELIBERATE lies and distortions for political gain or for other motivations.

E.g. the dramatisation of the life of Charles Darwin [the film called ‘Creation’] which distorted historical fact to propagate the deception that he and his fellow scientists were in a constant battle against the dogmatism and stubborn denial of Christians, Christianity and religion in general. To achieve that they invented deceptive dialogues and scenes, even including one recurring theme where his local parish priest was a wicked person, who saw Darwin as his enemy and who persecuted Darwin.
The historical reality is that Darwin was great friends with his local parish priest, often had him round for dinner, and Darwin regularly participated in the parish’s religious ceremonies and festivals. PLUS he himself wrote that when he wrote ‘the origin of the species’ his Christain faith was “as strong as that of any Bishop’s”.
Plus he was never an athiest and believed in some transcendent, all-powerful Creator-deity till his death.

That film on Darwin was a polemic against religion that needed to lie and deceive to manipulate the minds of its audience.
I would say that probably more than 95% of its viewers will never know that, and will never know they were deceived.

The same goes for ‘the Crown’. Most people will never know that it was a distortion designed to mould and influence opinions written by an anti-monarchist.

The same goes for all the many, many holyhoax holocaust films.

It of course applies to ALL WW2 films and all the films for children like ‘the sound of music’, ‘chitty-chitty bang-bang’, etc., that lies and portrays the people who formed the NSDAP and the men of the Wehrmacht as almost all being mindless, stupid, rigid, sadistic, bureacratic psychopaths. A few films and TV dramatisations might have one good German or one morally conflicted ‘Naztie’, but otherwise its relentless stream of racist, biased, deceitful distortion.

Then that perhaps is a sign of your age or nationality. Anyone British of my generation know that kind of unimportant minor detail. Margaret having to forget her love for a divorced man was often told to show the sacrifices the royals made to protect the monarchy and explain her later alcoholism. Her seen picking a piece of fluff off of the shoulder of her married RAF security offcer/lover’s shoulder at the Queen’s coronation was huge news, oft referred to.

I suggest asking questions like that demonstrate that the anti-monarchist spin that all viewers were subliminally influenced by has gone unnoticed by you. Which I also suggest is intended. The people who control the purse strings of these ’entertainment’ corporations are in the business of moulding public perception by commissioning programmes that do just that, and by censoring or making sure rival perceptions never get mass-media circulation. 

We are collectively unaware of this calculated manipulation to our own collective detriment. 

The humor is striking. Especially this notable ditty from King George in the series. I doubt if this is true but shows a wicked sense of fun.
