A Lazaret is a quarantine hospital. This was the end point of many prisoners who were given special treatment under aktion14f.
Natural deaths were recorded with the code 14f1, suicide or death by accident with 14f2; 14f3 meant shot while trying to escape. The execution of Soviet prisoners of war in concentration camps were recorded as "14f14.
In many ways Aktion 14f13 was similar to the T4 involuntary euthanasia program that used qualified personnel for selections (doctors) and other trained people to carry out the process.
This was obviously before the first alleged experimental gassing took place at Auschwitz in August 1941, on Soviet prisoners of war.

Behind the entrance is lager III where the gas chambers were.
An obvious question arises why the sick and elderly were sent to the Lazarett for dispatch when they could have been gassed with the others; why the "special treatment"? Most of the Sobibor witnesses knew what was happening to them so it was not to placate or fool anyone.

Aktion 14f13, was a campaign by Nazi Germany to terminate Nazi concentration camp prisoners. Also called invalid or prisoner euthanasia, the campaign culled the sick, elderly and those deemed no longer fit for work, from the rest of the prisoners in a selection process, after which they were killed.link

The first known selection took place in April 1941 at Sachsenhausen concentration camp. By the summer, at least 400 prisoners from Sachsenhausen had been killed. During the same period, 450 prisoners from Buchenwald and 575 prisoners from Auschwitz were gassed at the Sonnenstein Euthanasia Centre

The elderly and disabled were loaded on to tippers and driven to the screened-off Lager III where they were shot by Ukrainian guards. The rest were taken to the same section of the camp to be killed in gas chambers, after being told to leave their luggage and clothes behind.

At Treblinka the Lazaret was described as follows:
An important object was the so-called โlazarettโ. It was not used for treatment, but on the contrary โ for killing. Above the building there was a white flag with a red cross. Behind it there was a pit in which documents, photographs, diplomas and religious objects were burned. The sick, elderly, disabled, unaccompanied children and those who could delay the pace of โworkโ were led to the edge of this burning pit to be quickly killed. The people brought here were seated on a bench and killed with a shot to the back of their heads. Next to the lazaret there was a pit in which the bodies of those who died during transport were buried. link

They did see how the people who had difficulty walking were hauled on to tippers and driven into the camp via a narrow-gauge rail.
