The shower disguise is really a "red herring" considering the rumors of mass extermination that were rife.
The poster above accepts the rumors:
That evidences how many rumours were circulating at the time.
Jewish witness testimony is prone to hyperbole, exaggerations, mistakes, use of emotive testimony, poor estimations, mixes rumour and hearsay with what they saw etc.

Lets look at some of these rumours (rumors US sp) link
Nowe Tory (New Tracks), Bund newspaper, April 1942:
It was possible to ascertain definitely that the evacuated were deported to the
famous camp of Beลลผec, where hundreds of young Jews were murdered in an inhuman
way. Among the population rumours are being spread that in this camp
extermination is being carried out like in Cheลmno, by poisoning with gas.

The Jews of Warsaw Are Killed in Treblinka.
Actually, what was the fate of the deported Jews? We know it from the stories
of the Poles and of those Jews who succeeded in escaping from the trains or
from Treblinka.
The floor in this barrack opened up and the people fell into a machine.
According to the opinion of some of those who escaped, the people in the
barrack were gassed. According to another opinion, they were killed by
electrical current. From the small tower over the bath, there were constant
shots.

The following transports left for Treblinka a total of 113,1000 people. The
gas chambers are mobile, and they are situated above the pits.
Not later than July 29 we learned from reports of the railway workers that
transports were being taken to the concentration camp of Treblinka and that the
Jews were disappearing there without trace. There can no longer be any doubt
that the deportations are the beginning of extermination.
Soon we will relay an authentic
testimony of a Jew who succeeded in escaping from Treblinka.

Yankel Wiernik was transported to Treblinka on 23 August 1942. From 1904 Jankiel Wiernik was a member of the "Bund" movement link, the same people who mentioned above "The Jews of Warsaw Are Killed in Treblinka" (Bund newspaper Oif der Vach (On Guard), 20 September 1942); three weeks after Wiernik arrived at Treblinka.
The Bund newspaper (Nowe Tory, Bund newspaper, April 1942:) published 4+ months before Wiernik arrived at Treblinka were mentioning mass exterminations at Chelmno and Belzec.
Yitzhak Arad 7 April 1942
An entire community of 44,000 Jews was plucked out by the roots and slaughtered
or dispersed. Thousands of Jews were rounded up and led where? Nobody knows. According
to rumor they were taken to Rawa Ruska and were electrocuted there
It is clear most of the Jews would have heard of these atrocity stories and no doubt formed impressions of any camp they went to in light of these rumors.
